For small and mid-sized police agencies, one of the most significant challenges in the disciplinary process is determining the appropriate level of involvement for the chief of police. If the chief involves themselves with recommending discipline, then they are excluded from the Skelly / pre-disciplinary due process meeting. Conversely, if they elect to serve as the Skelly hearing officer, then they must remove themselves from recommending discipline. Meliora is pleased to offer the provision of Skelly hearings as part of its suite of services. We have experienced retired police chiefs who are well versed in current labor law and bring a broad range of experience to the table. The service allows the police chief to take an appropriate role in the determination of recommended discipline and ensures that experienced professionals will conduct the Skelly hearing.

Our strategic planning and team building services offer organizations the opportunity to plan for the future in a systematic and efficient manner. The process of strategic planning entails reviewing existing conditions with community members and members of organizations. With this base condition we will work with a broad set of stakeholders to identify goals, steps, measurements and outcomes to develop a strategic plan document to guide the organization to its new future. Our strategic planning services include follow up to help hold the organization accountable for implementation. We believe it necessary to include a Team Building component with leaders of the organization to align “teams” and “strategies.” However, we understand that each organization is different and there are times when building a team first is the priority. In these cases, we can separate this suite of service and offer stand alone Team Building Workshops, separate from that of Strategic Planning.
